Ruth Austin - Mixed Media Artist
My paintings are layered mixed media collages. I use a blend of papers, acrylics, watercolors, and oil sticks, creating my art on canvas or watercolor paper. My intention is to create a vibrant fusion of texture and color in each piece. Using my unique mixed media process, I often create my own collage papers and I also use found papers such as old books and letters.
As an artist, my intention is to capture the vibrancy, beauty, and joy I find in Northern Arizona. I draw inspiration from the ponderosa pine forests I hike in often, and my garden, which is filled with birds, flowers, and sunlight.
