Jason Nelson - Leather Artist

Hello, and thank you for taking interest in my artwork. My Name is Jason Nelson and I'm a flagstaff local, born and raised. I’ve been an artist at heart for as long as I can remember. My choice to create with leather was inspired by the longevity, beauty and functionality of the craft itself. Leather seems to take on its own character in relation to its owner. It forms to fit your shape and is polished by your lifestyle. The potential projects you can undertake with leather are far too numerous to convey in this bio especially when you add leather tooling into the equation. Tooling designs into leather adds an entirely unique and visually appealing element to each leather project. It was this process of carving, stamping and molding a 3-D image into leather that really stoked the creative fires and attracted me to leather work. By combining the durability of a well made leather item with the fine art of leather tooling the end result is always beautiful.
