Amanda Cody - Jeweler
I have been metal smithing since the summer of 2016 when I found myself immobile from a skiing knee injury, when I had to take a season off the river.
I started apprenticing with an experienced silversmith, Jay Mcormick for six months, learning how to hand forge and stamp metal. I have since spent a lot of time teaching myself soldering and lapidary skills. Mostly all of the stones I work with are hand cut from raw materials by myself.
I am an outdoor advocate and find much of my inspiration from the peaks of mountains, whispering of the winds, rustling of the leaves and bathing in the soft silvery moon light. I work as a river guide in the Grand Canyon 6 months out of the year, one of my signature designs is a hand stamped shape of a wave, representing my connection to water and my admiration to the ebbs and flows, peaks and troughs of life.
